The Imperial City of Alo'amari'lm
This small imperial city has a permanent population of 3000 people. However, this can swell up to 5000 people during the height of the trading season. The city maintains a professional fighting force of 300 cavalry, 600 infantry and 200 town watchmen. This city also controls a twelve-mile radius of land, taking taxes and foodstuff from the farmer and peasants living there. The town's prosperity is due to its placement on the crossroads of several imperial roads. Taxes are taken from each person and caravan entering the city. Each of the Imperial cities pays taxes to the Imperial coffers. In times of rain the imperial roads are the only reliable routes of transportation. The cavalry also patrol stretches of the roads to guard against bandits and hostile Alms.
A strong wall, pierced by four gates protects the city. It also boasts deep wells that have never gone dry. The water is used for the citizens, the baths, the church and the sewer system.
Alo'amari'lm is home to a thriving slave market, the only licensed one in the area. Alms, merchants, and the wealthy come to this city to buy slaves of all sizes and shapes and talents.
The city also boasts a variety of entertainments: gladiatorial fights, horse racing, bawdyhouses, wines houses, coffeehouses and the arts.
There are 5 major squares: The Central square, the Farmer's market, the Wine Market, the Slaver's Square, and Butcher's market.
