TheKurdrunMission part 6
[prev: TheOldMill][next: ATakenComrade]
The night begins on the dark roof. Afalar stands perched on the edge of the roof. A Kurdrun below shouts that he has seen him. Afalar turns and moves up onto the cliff. When a Kurdrun head peeks over the top, Volorn rushes it and knocks the creature off the roof.
Another one appears and takes a shot at Afalar. Volorn rushes the creature but bounces off of him. The kurdrun male then fires two bolts into Volorn with some kind of repeating crossbow. Afalar continues his escape up the cliff. Volorn then runs and jumps off the side of the building. The wounds must have hampered him because he fell sustaining yet more damage. The beings unload a couple more vicious hits on Afalar before he gets out of range. Later he and Volorn meet up. Volorn noticed a small blue being with wing come looking for Afalar.
We meet up back at the bluff. Sjer tries to get some sleep, but we are interrupted by the smell of sulpher. The sparkily blue winged creature approaches us and spits little blue pellets that hit us automatically. They burn and sting before going out. Volorn and Sjer can smell the creature coming long before we can see it.
We found out that only the Kurdrun scimitars and silver weapons do any damage to the thing. The blue pellets that it spits penetrate everything except a certain shielding spell that Sjer has.
We surely would have perished from a myriad of tiny injuries if we had not had the silver dart with us. Only continual retrieval and attack with the dart drove the creature away as it could hover out of range of the scimitars.
Then the group of humans, now down to 3 from 5, exits the mill and begins their journey. After a quick discussion we decide to follow them and not enter the mill. We go off to get our horses and set Volorn out to track them. Half an hour later we are on their trail, which winds around and back through the small village we encountered on the way here. We ride as hard as we can in the moonless night. After 3 hours we have caught up to them. Volorn alerts us to the fact that they have stopped. We too stop and decide to sneak up on them and attempt to steal their horses. Zali and Afalar spend 45 minutes getting quietly into place, but they draw near only to see the three men and five horses head off down the trail.
