QuestForTheNozarShaDagger part 3
Late the morning following our trade with the Valas, the 85th of Spring.
The captain comes to Afalar and mentions that we are approaching the last town before we hit the mountains. That town is Pir'ilm. He asks Afalar to ensure that his companions take their share of the watch as he believes the others respect Afalar. Afalar corrects him by suggesting it is fear, not respect that causes his companions to listen to him.
A hunting party is arranged for the afternoon.
Later that day, we spy some circling birds that signal a dead animal.
After, we light a large cookfire and have a feast.
Once everyone is piled on the deck a huge serpent emerges from the current. We begin pelting the thing with bolts and arrows. Afalar nails it squarely in the eye on his first shot. It's tactic is to slip under the water and pop up randomly. It managed to take a bite out of Raj, but soon perished of its many wounds. Sjer patched up Raj and collect a black stinky tooth out of Raj's wound.
1. days later, Ezra, Zali, and Sjer are out on a hunting expedition. We come across some shod hoofprints. Ezra determines that there are two horses which are not that heavily encumbered. Just then Sjer heard horses galloping towards them. They are coming from the same direction that the other horses came from. Ezra has doven off the path, but Sjer did not understand and stood there for a crucial moment. The riders pull up when they see Sjer. They stop the horses and call out to Sjer. The language is unfamiliar and Sjer does not know how to respond. One of the riders pulls out a bow and then motions Sjer to move to the middle of the path. Sjer complies, but the riders suddenly race their horses forward to trample him. Zali moves away in time, but Sjer is knocked down. Ezra becomes enraged and kills the pair. It was difficult for him as the second one turned into a wolf midspring from his horse. It was only with the help of Sjer's silver dart that the deed was done. Nonetheless it was a savage slaying. Sjer is very quiet on the trip back.
